The £5 or Less Skincare Routine

Let face it, buying good skincare on a budget can sometimes be a bit of a challenge! Trying out an expensive skincare product is much riskier than trying out an expensive makeup product as there are just so many different variables that can influence whether your skin agrees with it or not and it can be difficult to work this out prior to buying. Whereas once you've swatched a lipstick or concealer on your hand chances are you can tell roughly whether you're going to love it or hate it! There are so many affordable skincare staples from boots which can seriously rival the higher end selections if chosen carefully, so here are some of the affordable skincare products I just can't imagine not being in my routine.
Mircellar Water £3.33 (X). This product may be absolutely everywhere in the blogging world right now, but it is honestly for good reason! Since switching to this from the Boots own brand makeup wipes (and occasionally the poundland ones..) I just can't imagine going back. It removes makeup so quickly and gently and is a world better for your skin.
Lush Tee Tree Water £4.50 (X). I'll be honest, for a very long time I had literally no idea what a toner did or how it helps your skin! In case any of you lovely people are anywhere near as clueless as me I googled it and essentially a toner refreshes your face. The combination of tea tree, grapefruit and juniperberry waters in this one is also brilliant at clearing up my skin as the tea tree keeps away bacteria that can cause spots, while the grapefruit and juniperberry are full of vitamins and antiseptic so help keep skin clean and clear.
Simple Moisturiser £4.19 (X). I've been using this moisteriser since I was about 15, and while I've tried out a few other brands I always seem to come back to this one! Its so clear and easy to use, and for the price I honestly don't think there's a better one out there!
Sudocreme Skincare Cream* £1.99 (X). I was recently sent a sample of this to try out and initially I wasn't completely sure what to make of it! As somebody who will often buy a bath or skincare product heavily based on its scent I wasn't overly impressed. However the thick cream is very multi purpose meaning it can so easily be adapted into your skincare routine as anything from a full face mask to a moisturiser. Personally I find it helpful to just apply over any problem skin areas overnight as its soothing properties work so well at dealing with and reducing my existing spots.
St Ives Apricot Scrub £4.19 (X). I tend to alternate between this face scrub and using a face mask as this gorgeous scrub is just so quick and easy to use that its perfect for the mornings where you're in a rush and massively running out of time! I love the fresh apricot smell and it actually does stick to its promise to reveal smooth, radiant skin!
BONUS! A Lush Face mask £6.75 (X). Slightly over the £5 limit, but worth considering if you're looking to get something fun and a bit special! I bought my first ever Lush face mask a few months ago and it has honestly just wormed its way into my regular skincare routine. Cup O Coffee has such a lovely chocolatey aroma and leaves my skin feeling so smooth and refreshed than I'm now desperate to try out some others, I'm looking at you Cupcake!

I would love to hear your thoughts on affordable skincare or maybe even your own current skincare routine! If there's anything you think I should add or remove then please, please let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading lovelies, Georgia xxxx

  4. I need this Micellar water, I've heard only good things and I find it so difficult to find a good, reasonably priced make up remover!! These are some great tips, sudocrem is really great and I'm definitely going to try that lush mask. I tried Mask of Magnaminty last time and it was brilliant!

  5. I actually swear by Sudocrem, it's such a versatile product that doesn't get enough praise! If I'm ever having a bit of a bad breakout, then I apply some of this overnight and things are cleared up pretty sharpish :)

  6. I really want to try the Lush toner spray, I've just about run out of the Sukin one I'm using now! I used to use the apricot scrub as a teenager, but realised after I stopped using it that it was just WAY to harsh for me, I've had brilliant results from using exfoliating acids (like Stridex and FAB) instead :)

  10. At first I was kind of surprised to find lush items on this list, as they tend to be mid-range price, but then I realized that they definitely do have some more affordable finds as well, especially when bought in pounds (here in Germany, it costs a little more since they raise the price a bit in Euro to even the price out). It's so great that you have managed to get your skincare routine down to being so affordable. Thanks for letting us know about the other products as well!

    1. I know what you mean as Lush can be so expensive for some items! Personally I nearly always get the smallest size of a product as its so much cheaper and you can try more products out for less money :) I did forget the face masks were more than £5 until I'd already written the post though! That's okay, thank you so much for reading and commenting! xx
